The Office was formally established in 2022 under the Ministry of Labour and the Public Service, serving as the regulatory and administrative authority for trade unions operating within the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
The Office derives its legal mandate from the Industrial Relations Act, Chapter 321 and is further guided by the Employment Act, international conventions, and applicable subsidiary legislation. The Office seeks to ensure transparency, accountability, and lawful operation of trade unions in accordance with the Industrial Relations Act, related labour legislation, and international labour standards, including ILO Conventions 87 and 98
This platform provides access to relevant legislation, official forms, union registration procedures, compliance guidelines, and notices of trade union activity. It also highlights our work in supervising union elections, reviewing industrial agreements, and maintaining updated records of registered unions and their annual returns
The Office also serves as the central repository of trade union records, including constitutions, annual returns, and certified agreements
A Bahamian politician, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, she has been the Minister of Labour and Public Service in The Bahamas since September 11, 2023.
